2013 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is proud to celebrate the members of the Congressional Black Caucus for being champions of women’s health care.
We’re excited to participate in the 2013 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference in a variety of ways.
- Congressional Black Caucus Chair Marcia Fudge (OH) is the honorary host with sponsors Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Susan G. Komen for the Cure of an issue forum entitled “Owning Your Health…It Starts With You” This will explore women’s health, breast health, and the importance of self determination in a new health care era.
- Stop by the Planned Parenthood Booth, at the Washington Convention Center CBC ALC Exhibit Hall Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Take our health care quiz, win prizes and learn all about Planned Parenthood and its important work toward health equality. The booth is open noon – 7 p.m. on Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday.
- PPFA is partnering with Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC (PPMW) to sponsor the Annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Spouses Community Breakfast. Here CBC members and their spouses, serve breakfast to and provide a whole host of volunteer services to hundreds of clients of a shelter in Washington. Participants will receive HIV/AIDS testing from PPMW as well as variety of other health tests and services from other community based organizations.
- Planned Parenthood is participating in the workshop “It’s Movement Time! Moving A Unified Women’s Agenda Forward in 2013 and Beyond.” This panel will be led by the Black Women’s Roundtable (BWR). During the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington they successfully convened a diverse group of women leaders to celebrate “HerStory” and craft a unified agenda. The BWR Forum will bring together an intergenerational group of women leaders for a roundtable discussion to share advocacy and legislative recommendations that are solutions-driven to move a unified women’s policy agenda forward. Also, expert activists and organizers will share organizing and coalition-building strategies.
