This week, we're saying “thank you” to the compassionate and skilled nurses who work every day to keep the women, men, and young people in their communities healthy, and to ensure they have access to the full range of reproductive health care options, including cancer screenings, birth control, testing and treatment for STDs, and medically-accurate sexual health information. Join us in celebrating the remarkable dedication of Planned Parenthood nurses this week and all year long!

Akia, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Manager at Planned Parenthood in Brooklyn Park, recently told us:

I did my clinic rotation at the Minneapolis clinic three years ago, and I fell in love with the patients, the environment, the education, and uncovered my passion for working with young women and caring for them. Now that I’m working for Planned Parenthood, I have been so amazed at what is offered and how great of an organization it is. What we do here is such a major accomplishment toward overcoming barriers and helping to reduce teenage pregnancy.

My patients motivate me. Throughout my schooling and training and the more I work here, I see that these women and men need providers like us to guide and educate them on reproductive and sexual health!

If someone was nervous about coming to Planned Parenthood, I would tell them, “Come on in, you will get nonjudgmental, unbiased care in a safe and secure environment with compassionate, supportive, and helpful staff! We will make sure you leave our doors well informed and feeling independent and relieved about the care you received."
