WASHINGTON, D.C. — Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are on stage laying out dramatically different visions for the future of America. While Vice President Harris shares her plans to protect our rights and freedom, Trump’s first comment about abortion is to spread lies, proving that voters cannot trust him with our reproductive freedom. In response Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes released the following statement:

“Here are the facts: At no point in pregnancy is a politician more qualified to make your medical decisions than you and your doctor. Donald Trump is the reason Roe was overturned and we lost our right to abortion under the federal constitution. He is the reason abortion is banned in 22 states. And he is the reason millions of people can’t access basic reproductive health care like miscarriage management. Voters won’t fall for his lies and incoherent rambling. Kamala Harris is the only person on this stage who has and will continue to fight for reproductive freedom.”

Donald Trump’s record is all you need to predict what he and his anti-abortion cronies like JD Vance and the architects of Project 2025 will try to do if elected to a second term:

  • Monitor people’s pregnancies and collect extremely detailed data on when, why, and how pregnant people get abortions.
  • Eliminate abortion nationwide using a law from the 1800s without any accountability from Congress.
  • Ban medication abortion nationwide by revoking FDA approval of mifepristone.
  • Allow employers to deny workers’ access to birth control.
  • “Defund” abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, leaving millions of people without access to their health care providers.

The contrast between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris could not be clearer: While Donald Trump created our country’s abortion access crisis and called abortion bans “a beautiful thing,” Vice President Harris has been leading the effort to defend and protect abortion rights. Over 29 million women, plus trans, and nonbinary people, now live in the 22 states that have bans on some or all abortion – including over half of all Black women in the U.S. Voters want a president who will use the full force of the office and work with Congress to protect abortion access and fight for our right to control our own bodies, lives, and futures. Kamala Harris is that candidate.
