Planned Parenthood Votes Responds to Trump Abortion Comments During Presidential Debate
For Immediate Release: June 27, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Donald Trump’s lies and disinformation about abortion during tonight’s debate, Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes released the following statement:
“Regardless of what Donald Trump says tonight, he is only out for himself. He will say absolutely anything to get elected — including lying about his plans to go after abortion rights once again. You can’t trust his campaign statements, but you can trust his record. Because of Donald Trump, 43% of women of reproductive age live in a state with an abortion ban. He called states enacting bans ‘a beautiful thing to watch,’ promised to punish women who get abortions, and has repeatedly bragged about overturning Roe v. Wade. His actions are a glimpse of what another four years under his leadership will look like and voters have a clear choice in November. The future of democracy and reproductive freedom depends on electing Joe Biden and keeping Trump out of the White House.”
