Planned Parenthood Votes: The GOP Is Coming For Access To Birth Control Next
For Immediate Release: June 5, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Senate failed to pass the “Right to Contraception Act”, a bill that would guarantee the right to contraception throughout the country. In response, Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, released the following statement:
“Today’s vote is a stark reminder that if they can come for Roe, they can come for anything — including birth control. Last month, Donald Trump said he was considering restrictions on contraception before walking it back. But we know that he and his allies running for Congress remain dead set on controlling our lives, bodies, and futures. This election, we have the opportunity to stop hostile candidates like Kari Lake and David McCormick who will be another vote against our reproductive freedom. We don’t have to guess how these politicians will govern if elected. In every state where anti-abortion politicians have the power to enact laws, they have pursued harmful restrictions on our ability to access essential health care. The choice could not be more clear for voters. Planned Parenthood Votes will be there to make sure they understand who will fight for their right to birth control, abortion, and other sexual and reproductive health care services.”
