Regrets Already? Sounds like Plenty for GOP with JD Vance
For Immediate Release: July 23, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Barely a week after his selection as Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance is just not that popular with voters, or even with his new boss and their team, per new reporting… yikes! Sounds like there may be some buyer’s remorse swirling inside the GOP as Vance becomes a bigger and bigger liability; let’s go to the tape:
- Trump spent about as much time talking about Hulk Hogan as he did Vance in his acceptance speech.
- Trump campaign officials think Vance’s selection is “something of a luxury meant to run up margins with the base,” not a persuasive factor for swing-state voters.
- Vance’s Michigan rally appearance didn’t inspire confidence — voters were confused and “had to Wikipedia him.”
- Fox News cut away from Vance’s first solo rally — sounds like he’s just not very good at this!
- Vance’s claims to be a salt of the earth son of Appalachia fell flat, with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear saying “JD Vance ain’t from here” and the New York Times standards desk reminding reporters that the Yale graduate is from suburban Ohio.
If this is how Vance is playing to his supposed base, how will he play to regular voters? Our guess: not well.
After all, Vance is dangerously out of touch on abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and protecting people’s fundamental freedoms. He’s implied that women in violent marriages shouldn’t get divorced, voted against protecting nationwide access to IVF, and supported a national abortion ban. Vance has even promoted racist conspiracy theories and compared abortion to slavery.
This information about Vance is all adding up to something rotten. It’s unsurprising given who he’s running alongside. Trump and Vance go hand in hand, and together they’re coming for your reproductive freedom.
