WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling, which, based on reporting, may give Trump broad immunity from prosecution, is an affront to the rule of law.

Statement from Jenny Lawson, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes:

“We all pay the price when a politician can steamroll over our most basic values and institutions for their own personal gain — with impunity. This decision makes Donald Trump and the possibility of his reelection that much more dangerous. Voters deserve to know whether someone running in this election is guilty of attempting to overthrow the last one. Instead, today’s Supreme Court ruling paves the way for a dictatorship that will take away our freedomsall backed by a judiciary that Trump himself shaped with his hand-picked justices. Enough is enough. Come November, we must be prepared to defend ourselves from his ruthless agenda. We must elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Our very democracy and the fate of our nation are at stake in this election.”
