Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California Statement on National Action Fund Endorsement of Kamala Harris for President

SACRAMENTO, CA– Today, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California is proud to announce Planned Parenthood Action Fund has officially joined the resounding chorus of support for Kamala Harris to be the next President of the United States. Jodi Hicks, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, released the following statement:

“Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California is thrilled that Planned Parenthood Action Fund has officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president of the United States. From courtroom prosecutor to California Attorney General, State Senator, and Vice President of the United States, Harris represents the best of our state. She is fierce, bold, and wholeheartedly embodies California’s values, including the belief that every person deserves access to sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion, no matter who they are, what they look like, or where they come from.

“She is the first Vice President in history to visit a Planned Parenthood health care center and has spent the better part of the past two years lifting up the providers who are on the ground serving patients day-in and day-out as they navigate the chaos that has ensued since the Dobbs decision.

“We are at a pivotal moment in time and this will be the most consequential election when it comes to reproductive freedom. A Harris presidency will mean more freedom, more rights, and more bodily autonomy, which is why we must defeat Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and Project 2025, whose shared vision for America is a national abortion ban.

“We all– providers, patients, and advocates alike– want to be able to affirm to the next generation that we fought for them and their rights. Vice President Harris at the top of the Democratic presidential ticket is the assurance we need. Because when she wins, we will have a stalwart champion in the White House. 

“Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California is energized, excited, and committed to electing Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as a pro-abortion majority in Congress, to restore reproductive freedom and protect abortion access nationwide. 

“It’s our body. It’s our vote. And this election, we intend to use it.”

 

Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) conducts a rigorous endorsement process for presidential candidates that involves a vote of the Action Fund Board of Directors, which is ratified by local Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations.
