Today, Planned Parenthood Great Rivers Action (PPGR Action) celebrates the City of St. Louis Board of Aldermen's unanimous support for the final passage of Board Bill 36 and reproductive freedom in the City of St. Louis. The bill, sponsored by Alderwoman Cara Spencer (Ward 8) removed outdated and unnecessary language from the St. Louis City Code relating to abortion clinics that was also duplicative of existing state law.
Statement from Margot Riphagen, VP of External Affairs at PPGR Action:
"As Missouri voters decide the fate of abortion access this November, it is critical that our elected leaders take action to strip any unnecessary barriers to the reproductive health care patients want and need. Passing Board Bill 36 was a crucial step for removing those barriers at the local level. We are grateful to the Board of Aldermen for their unanimous support in protecting reproductive freedom in the City of St. Louis and removing the government from our exam rooms as we aim to enshrine reproductive freedom for all Missourians."
