PPGNY Votes PAC is committed to electing representatives in key New York State races who will fight to maintain and expand our reproductive rights and freedoms

2024 general elections endorsed candidates

NEW YORK, NY - Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Votes PAC is proud to announce our full slate of endorsements for the upcoming November 2024 elections. These endorsements come at a critical time when competitive races in key battlegrounds such as the Mid-Hudson Valley, Nassau County and the Capital Region could shape the future of reproductive health care in New York State. PPGNY Votes PAC is committed to defending crucial seats in areas like the Southern Tier and South Brooklyn, where access to pro-sexual and reproductive health care is being threatened by anti-abortion candidates.

Our goal is clear: we must elect candidates who will champion sexual and reproductive health care at every level of government. At a time when reproductive health care providers are facing unprecedented financial challenges that have forced them to take serious and immediate cost-saving measures and deeply consequential structural shifts, we need to vote for state Senate and Assembly leaders who are committed to stepping up for the reproductive freedom of their constituents.

Candidate Highlights:

Senate:

  • Yvette Valdes Smith (SD39) – is currently the Minority Leader of the Dutchess County Legislature. As a Senator from Mid-Hudson Valley, she’s committed to protecting women’s rights, investing in working families, and passing gun safety legislation.

  • Kim Keiserman (SD7) – is a community organizer with a background in education. As a member of the Senate from Nassau County, she plans to advocate for public school funding, stand for reproductive rights, and push for sensible gun laws.

  • Minita Sanghvi (SD44) – is a first-generation immigrant from India and currently serves as the Saratoga Springs Finance Commissioner. As a Senator representing Saratoga Springs, she will champion women’s access to health care, strengthen the rights of the LGBTQ community, and invest in education at every level.

Assembly:

  • Judy Griffin (AD21) – is a former Assemblymember who is running to take back a seat narrowly won by an anti-abortion Republican in 2022 and was the first woman in history to represent her district. As an Assembly member from Nassau County, she will continue fighting to protect our reproductive freedoms and secure a more affordable Long Island.

  • Chris McCreight (AD46) – is a former small business owner who is running for a Republican-held seat in South Brooklyn. As an Assemblymember, he will advocate for expanded access to sexual and reproductive health care, climate-resilient infrastructure, and increased investment in mental health services.

  • Chloe Pierce (AD107) – is a former Planned Parenthood volunteer and a lifelong advocate for health care access, child welfare, and more. As a Capital Region Assemblymember, she will fight for rural infrastructure improvements, including access to broadband and public works projects, fully fund public schools, and address disparities in New York's health care system.

Statement by Dipal Shah, Executive Director, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Votes PAC:

As we approach Election Day, it is crucial that New Yorkers elect candidates who will fight for our communities, ensuring that abortion is not only protected in New York State but accessible for all. At a time when our country is facing an overwhelming health care crisis and ongoing fiscal and political challenges are making it impossible for many reproductive health care organizations to meet the needs of their patients, we must demand better.

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York Votes PAC’s endorsements reflect our dedication to elect candidates who, amidst attacks on abortion and LGBTQ+ care, will not only defend our reproductive rights, but will step up even more and be true agents of progress for their constituents. We are excited to help these amazing candidates make real changes for their communities; this is the time when we must use the power of our vote to shape the future of our reproductive freedom and elect leaders who will meet the demands of today, tomorrow, and the future.
