Immersive experience with audio recordings from patients and physicians

St. Paul, MN — An emergency abortion exhibit hosted by Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) will be at the Minnesota State Fair September 1 and 2. The immersive experience will allow visitors to hear audio recordings gathered from across the country from patients who needed emergency abortion care and physicians directly affected by abortion bans. These stories, collected by Planned Parenthood and Physicians for Reproductive Health, are available on YouTube.

One patient, Layla, needed emergency abortion care at eight weeks, and her delayed care left her with lifelong complications. Another patient, Allie, suffered an ectopic pregnancy and would have died without an abortion. And physicians Dr. Ereme and Dr. Heywood know that every minute counts when a patient is experiencing an emerging medical complication — and that politicians don’t belong in medical decisions.

Statement from Ruth Richardson, president of Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota Action Fund: “Everyone experiencing a health emergency should be able to get the care they need—including an abortion—without political interference. The threats to care in a post-Roe world are cruel and unrelenting. Highlighting these stories in a state with strong protections for care will show Minnesotans and our neighbors why access to emergency care will always be critical for people’s health, lives, and futures.”
