It is reprehensible that Donald Trump continues to dismiss and degrade women.”

Washington, D.C. –– Donald Trump suggested that the only reason Hillary Clinton is successful is because she is a woman. Trump said, "If Hillary Clinton were a man, I don't think she’d get 5 percent of the vote. The only thing she’s got going is the woman’s card, and the beautiful thing is women don't like her. And look at how well I did with women tonight." Putting aside the fact that his unfavorable rating among women is 70 percent, it’s his dismissal of women that is disturbing.

Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

“It’s no wonder Donald Trump turns off so many women. Twenty-four states in this country have moved to block low-income women and men from accessing care at Planned Parenthood health centers. In other states, it’s next to impossible for some women to access safe, legal abortion. In a country where women are seeing their reproductive rights stripped away, it is reprehensible that Donald Trump continues to dismiss and degrade women.

“Hillary Clinton has spent her life fighting for women. She has worked tirelessly to expand access to birth control and break down economic barriers women face in the workplace. Donald Trump attributing her success to her gender shows how truly out of touch he is.”
