WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Planned Parenthood Action Fund stands alongside partners and champions in Congress to support the introduction of the National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act to end the discriminatory Muslim ban and institute vital protections against future attempts at additional bans.

Statement from Dr. Leana Wen, President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

It’s been two years since the first Muslim ban was issued, and countless families remain separated: unable to access lifesaving health care, unable to care for their children, and forced to live apart. Today, we urge Congress to  stand up against the outright discrimination and hate that led to this unconscionable ban. The Planned Parenthood community is made up of people from all walks of life  including Muslims from the United States and around the world. Our health centers are open to everyone regardless of faith, country of origin, and immigrant or refugee status. And we believe our country should be too. That’s why we’re proud to support the NO BAN Act and to fight for an America that is welcoming to all, and stronger because of it.

Planned Parenthood Global’s community-based partners work with Muslim communities in countries around the world, including Muslim-majority countries, in order to help women, young people, and families have access to the health care they need to control their bodies and their futures.
