Atlanta, GA – Tonight, Planned Parenthood Action Fund put out the following statement following Stacey Abram’s successful debate over Brian Kemps.

Statement from Staci Fox, President & CEO, Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates:

Tonight made more clear than ever that Georgia needs a Governor like Stacey Abrams. Abrams has always been a champion for Georgia women and families – working to expand Medicaid to those in need, ensure pre-existing conditions are covered under health care plans, and fight attacks on the nearly 8,000 patients in Georgia who rely on Planned Parenthood health centers for reproductive care every year. Tonight, Abrams demonstrated yet again that she would fight for Georgia's women and families.

“In sharp contrast, Brian Kemp’s racist, dog-whistle politics have been punctuated by his outrageous voter suppression efforts. He opposes Medicaid expansion for Georgians and voted to undermine protections for people with preexisting conditions. Kemp’s extreme, out-of-touch policies would endanger Georgia women’s lives, and his stance on abortion would outlaw the procedure before most women even know they’re pregnant.

“Georgians know what’s on the line, and come November 6, they’ll be sending Stacey Abrams to the governor’s mansion.
