PP PREZ TALKS ABOUT THE FUTURE OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD: This week, Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, joined Emily Tisch on the She Pivots podcast to discuss her pivot to Planned Parenthood and reproductive rights after starting her career in academia. Alexis discusses the start of her presidency of the organization during the pandemic and the 2020 election. She stressed the importance of her work in racial equity in bringing a more intersectional lens to the organization.
Looking forward, Alexis explains “Who are we going to be? I think the flaw in my question really is if Roe was enough. Roe had long been undermined by these laws that allowed for the right but not for access. So we have actually this new opportunity to build back in a different way. Saying to the Biden administration we should just build Roe back better.”
Alexis emphasizes her goal saying, “At the end of the day, what I want is for everyone to know what an abortion is, an actual abortion is. I want people to know where to get one. Who to call. I want them to know that Planned Parenthood will be there to support them. And that we will be there to defend them.”

PLANNED PARENTHOOD ACTION FUND PREZ TO STUMP FOR SLOTKIN IN MICHIGAN: Today, Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, is in Michigan, alongside the presidents of EMILY’s List and Reproductive Freedom For All to support Rep. Elissa Slotkin in her bid for the U.S. Senate.
Slotkin has been a reproductive rights champion in the House and received the endorsement of the Action Fund earlier this year.
“At a moment when abortion access, birth control, and IVF are all under threat, Elissa has never wavered in the fight to protect reproductive freedom,” Alexis McGill Johnson said in a statement earlier this year. “In Congress, she has stood up against efforts to block women service members from getting the medical care they need, and in Michigan she helped lead the charge to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution. People across Michigan need a Senator who will always have their back, and Elissa Slotkin is the champion they can count on.”
