Stacey Abrams (D), Challenger

Abrams has been a champion for reproductive rights and justice. If elected, she promises to do all she can to reverse Georgia’s cruel and dangerous law that bans abortion after about six weeks, before many people even know they’re pregnant.

For women in Georgia, especially women of color in Georgia, Brian Kemp is dangerous. He does not intend to protect women or their bodies.

  • After the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and ended federal constitutional protection of abortion, Abrams doubled down on her commitment to protect abortion access in Georgia — saying she would “work every day to ensure access to affordable and safe health care, including  abortion.”

  • Abrams backs federal legislation to restore nationwide protection of abortion rights, and vows to “do everything in [her] power to reverse” Georgia’s ban on abortion after about six weeks of pregnancy — which is before many people even know they’re pregnant.

  • Expansion of Medicaid is a top priority for Abrams — who says covering the uninsured would help improve reproductive health care for Georgians with low incomes and people in rural communities, many of whom lack health care providers.

𝗑 OPPOSE

Brian Kemp (R), Incumbent

Kemp has proven time and time again to be a danger to the lives and well-being of Georgians — and will stop at nothing to strip Georgians of their fundamental rights.

Georgians should rest assured that I will continue to fight for the strongest [anti-abortion] law in the country.

Raphael Warnock (D), Incumbent

Warnock, who was elected to the Senate in 2021, has demonstrated an uncompromising belief in the right to safe, affordable reproductive health care — including abortion — time after time.

I’ll never back down from this fight because women should be able to make their own health care decisions.

𝗑 OPPOSE

Herschel Walker (R), Challenger

Walker favors a national abortion ban — without exceptions.

There’s no exception in my mind. Like I say, I believe in life. I believe in life.

Herschel Walker, 5/18/2022

Source: The Hill

  • Responding to a survey by an anti-abortion group, Walker wrote that he would vote for any anti-abortion legislation (*.pdf), “even if the legislation is not perfect.” Walker supports no exceptions, including in cases of rape or incest or to protect the life of the pregnant person.

  • Walker supports mandatory ultrasounds (*.pdf) — a medically unnecessary and sometimes invasive procedure  — for abortion patients..

  • Endorsed by major national anti-abortion groups that promote restrictions on access to abortion and birth control, Walker has accepted money to speak on behalf of “crisis pregnancy centers” —  facilities that often have no on-staff medical providers and exist  solely to promote misinformation and propaganda to deter patients from accessing abortion.
