BOISE, ID — Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates – Idaho is putting a spotlight on five politicians running for office in 2024 for their attacks on reproductive rights. While some have accepted $1,000+  from anti-abortion extremist groups like Idaho Chooses Life, others have tried to hide from their own unpopular voting records, showing time and time again that they’ll play political games at the expense of Idahoans’ health, futures, and freedom. It’s time to hold them accountable at the ballots by November 5.

Sen. Dan Foreman (D6)
Dan Foreman shouting “abortion is murder” at students advocating for sex education is just a glimpse into his dangerous rhetoric. He voted to criminalize anyone helping minors access legal abortions, even in states where abortion remains legal, and pushed to remove rape and incest exceptions from Idaho’s abortion ban, showing his callous disregard for survivors of sexual assault.

Rep. Dori Healey (D15)
Dori Healey’s campaign is backed by anti-abortion group Idaho Chooses Life. She voted to criminalize anyone helping minors access legal abortions, and she opposed a common-sense bill requiring private insurance to cover six months of birth control — a bill with bipartisan support that was signed into law earlier this year.

Former Rep. Codi Galloway (D15)
Codi Galloway backed the six-week abortion ban and supported a Texas-style bounty law that would allow rapists’ family members to sue abortion providers for cash. Rather than raise money illegally at a public school again, she’s now accepting $1,000+  dollars from anti-abortion group Idaho Chooses Life.

Former Rep. Laurie Lickley (D26)
Laurie Lickley co-sponsored Idaho’s trigger law banning nearly all abortions and supported the Texas-style bounty law that would reward rapists’ family members for suing abortion providers. Despite putting forth a more moderate image, Lickley’s recent backpedal is at odds with her actions.

Rep. Dustin Manwaring (D29)
Dustin Manwaring benefited from thousands of dollars in campaign funding from out-of-state billionaires pushing a school voucher agenda that would gut Idaho’s public schools. But that’s not the worst of it. Manwaring co-sponsored the Texas-style abortion bounty law and supported a resolution to declare the anniversary of Roe v. Wade as Idaho’s “Day of Tears.”

Statement from Mistie DelliCarpini-Tolman, Idaho State Director, Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates – Idaho

“These lawmakers have shown us who they really are: anti-abortion extremists with no interest in listening to or protecting the people they claim to represent. From dangerous laws that criminalize personal health care decisions to receiving money from out-of-state special interest groups, they have betrayed Idahoans’ trust. The only way to move forward toward a safer, more inclusive Idaho is by voting these bad actors out by November 5.”
