Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates Announces 2024 Endorsed Candidates Who Will Fight for Idahoans’ Reproductive Freedom
For Immediate Release: Sept. 24, 2024
BOISE, ID — Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates (PPAA) – Idaho is proud to endorse 22 champions of reproductive health with its largest cohort of incumbents ever of 14 champions. In the two years since the Supreme Court removed the federal right to abortion, Idahoans have seen the devastating impact: from pregnant patients needing to be life-flighted out of state, to doctors fleeing, to horrific health outcomes, all because of Idaho lawmakers who are more focused on control than common sense.
It’s time to elect candidates up and down the ballot who will unapologetically fight for reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ rights. Across Idaho, here are four key districts to watch in 2024:
District 6: Senator Dan Foreman has been laser focused on removing rape and incest exceptions from Idaho’s abortion ban. His views and track record are too extreme for Idaho.
District 15: Senator Rick Just will continue his steadfast protection of reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights. First-time candidate Shari Baber will bring her leadership background and focus on inclusivity to represent Boise values — and electing Baber will flip the last anti-abortion seat in Boise.
District 26: Senator Ron Taylor and Representative Ned Burns will continue their consistent and outspoken support for reproductive rights and true family values. Idahoans should focus on Laurie Lickley's actions, not her words, as she tries to distance herself from her extreme anti-abortion record, which includes co-sponsoring Idaho’s draconian abortion ban.
District 29: Leaders like Jennifer Call (Bannock County Prosecutor candidate), Representative Nate Roberts, Senator James Ruchti, and Mary Shea know Pocatello values and are fighting for reproductive freedom. Together, they offer a united front as champions of bodily autonomy, LGBTQ+ rights, and medical choices without government interference.
Statement from Mistie DelliCarpini-Tolman (she/her), Idaho State Director, PPAA
“The past several years have been incredibly tough on our state — we’ve seen firsthand the life-threatening effects of our restrictive abortion ban, minor travel ban, and cruel anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. The best way to fight back is by electing both familiar and fresh faces to fight for us— our 2024 endorsed champions. I believe in an Idaho where we’re all safe and free to live our truths without politicians interfering in our private and medical decisions. Let’s show up at the ballots in record numbers to elect reasonable, fearless leaders who keep these extreme anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ+ agendas at bay. By voting on November 5, we decide what’s right for our bodies, families, and futures.”
