“This November, we demand the power to decide what's best for our families, bodies, lives, and futures.”

Indianapolis, IN — Since the reversal of Roe, Indiana has become a battleground where abortion opponents have relentlessly attacked sexual and reproductive health care. As the first state to convene a special session to enact a near-total abortion ban, despite the majority of voters supporting access to this essential care, Hoosiers are saying enough is enough. Community leaders are listening, and this election cycle, Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates of Indiana (PPAA-IN) is endorsing the largest group of reproductive health champions in Indiana’s history. Forty candidates across the state, are joining forces with PPAA-IN to reclaim control and restore their reproductive rights.

“This election is our moment to restore balance to Indiana's state legislature,” said Haley Bougher, Indiana State Director for Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates. “We have the power to shape our future by electing leaders who will expand and protect our reproductive rights at every level of government. We are the majority, and this November, we demand the right to decide what's best for our families, bodies, and lives. When we decide, we win.”

Anti-abortion extremists in Indiana are willing to put people’s health and lives at risk to advance their agenda. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has weaponized his office to block legal access to abortion and target patients and providers. In response, PPAA-IN has endorsed democratic candidate Destiny Wells to return the office to the people — an office that prioritizes policy over personal political agendas.

A Snapshot of AG Rokita’s Efforts to Undermine Hoosier Reproductive Rights:

  • Rokita has used public office to exploit tragedy, using the case of a 10-year-old rape survivor as an excuse to intimidate abortion providers and scare them out of providing legal, safe health care. This intimidation not only endangers patient care but also deters medical professionals from practicing in the state.
  • Rokita continues to use the AG office to threaten patient privacy. He pushed to make Indiana abortion reports public records, arguing it's necessary to identify providers for prosecution despite the risk of exposing pregnant people’s private information. This reveals the true intention behind abortion reporting — targeting providers under the guise of protecting patient health and safety.
  • Rokita joined 19 other anti-abortion AGs in requesting medical records of patients who travel out of state to get abortion care — a move opposed by 95% of Indiana voters who reject the invasion of patient privacy.
  • Rokita threatened legal action if Maine passed a law protecting abortion and gender-affirming care providers and patients. While other states are enacting protections for reproductive health care providers, Indiana continues to enforce a near-total abortion ban and has recently banned gender-affirming care for minors.

This election presents a clear choice for Indiana's future: progress through the election of reproductive rights champions or a return to a regressive, unchecked extremist supermajority. This November, voters have the power to decide, and PPAA-IN believes they will show up to the polls to support freedom.
